The Waikato Building Consent Group is a cluster of five Councils who work together to bring consistency to the Building Consent process. The group consists of the Building Control Units from: 

This site is for anyone in the local building industry or involved in a building project, large or small.  It provides information on the Building Consent process and requirements, information on the different types of building projects, as well as other relevant information you may need for your building project.  You can also access application forms and checklists, and links to other useful sites.  If you require further information in regards to your building project please contact the Building Unit of your local Council to find out more.

 

 

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL OWNERS, DESIGNERS AND BUILDERS


 

If you apply for a building consent after 1 March 2012

The practitioners you use must be correctly licensed to carry out the work.

Licensed Building Practitioners (LBPs) include:

  • Designers,

  • Carpenters,

  • Roofers,

  • External Plasterers,

  • Brick and Blocklayers and

  • Foundations specialists.

Professional Engineers, Architects, Plumbers and Gasfitters are treated as LBPs and can carry out some restricted Building work.
